Whatever is going on in your life today, your Lord is watching, helping, and giving hope. Jesus Christ “sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty” (Apostles’ Creed). That’s now, for you today.
He has “gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him” (1 Peter 3:22). The people and ways of the world don’t acknowledge His lordship, or they would act differently, but you and I believe “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17). From that vantage point, He is certainly watching what’s going on in our lives.
He hears your prayers, your groans, your heart’s yearning. “We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:15-16). And He’s praying now for you. “He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:25). “Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us” (Romans 8:34).
He's helping you, as Hebrews said, by providing for you to receive “mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Grace is not just that we’re saved apart from works. Grace is also Jesus’ help in our times of need. He gives us mercies, acts of loving-kindness because He’s our Savior to whom we look. “The God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you” (1 Peter 5:10).
“Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). What’s troubling you today is destined to become “the former things (that) have passed away” (Revelation 21:4). This hope purifies us, even while we live in a culture so filthy with by sin (1 John 3:3). “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). So speaks to you the One who is now “sitting at the right hand of God the Father almighty.”
