On this date in 1945 Japan accepted the Allies terms of surrender. I can’t imagine the feelings of Americans that came with surrender and that costly victory.
Christians have spiritual enemies who have not yet surrendered, enemies who want to rob you of the confidence and goodness that Jesus Christ gives. “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12)
My friend Mark, a former military chaplain, keeps a little question on his mirror. “Are you dressed for battle?” Put on the faith and hope that are in Jesus Christ and go to the tasks of this day, go to your battle station, watchful but also assured that the ultimate victory will be yours because of Christ’s resurrection. “Every tongue (will) confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:11)
“Faint not nor fear, His arms are near; He changes not who holds you dear; only believe, and you will see that Christ is all eternally.” (John Monsell)
