The Marin Independent Journal, the "IJ" for short, ran an interview Sunday with a Hilary Young. Title: "Marin Snapshot: Hairstylist creates online dating service using astrology to match compatible couples." Bible believers should find the interview interesting.
IJ: How did you get interested in astrology?
Answer: I started astrology when I was 14. My best friend's mom was into astrology, and it seemed like a good way to figure out why my parents were crazy. After that it just became a good way to work through relationships. Stuff that didn't make sense made more sense when I could look at somebody's chart. I've used astrology to navigate all the relationships in my life for the last 22 years.
IJ: Are you satisfied with the results?
Answer: I would say choosing husbands wasn't my strong suit. But I've had great luck in my romantic life. I've dated some truly amazing and wonderful men.
IJ asks about her online site: You also provide tips to users of the site, for example you remind them to bathe, apply deodorant and brush their teeth before meeting someone for the first time. Why?
Answer: Because I've done more dating than any other white woman in the history of the universe. At the end of the day all of the things I mention on there are things I've seen people do. I had a gentleman tell me on a first date, a date for coffee, that he had genital warts. You cannot make this stuff up.
Dale here, smile on my face, tongue in cheek. She is right, "you cannot make this stuff up." Yesterday I wrote about the Second Commandment, "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain." God's "name" is all that He has revealed to us about Himself. God has revealed that He wants us to "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might." (Deuteronomy 6:5) If you believe that, then guidance for your relationships will come from God's revelation in His Word, no place else. Any other source, Ms. Hilary, is taking the Lord's name in vain. "And when you look up to the sky and see the sun and the stars--all the heavenly array-- do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshipping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven." (Deuteronomy 4:19; see also Leviticus 19:26; Deuteronomy 18:10-12; Isaiah 47:13-14; Jeremiah 10:2)
One last interview question: How does the fact that the scientific community no longer recognizes Pluto as a planet affect astrology?
Hilary's answer: We ignored it. We decided they can do whatever they want but at the end of the day it still matters to us. Pluto is an interesting planet because it is considered to have a dual rulership over Scipio with Mars.
Dale again, loving every second of writing this. We Bible believers trust the promise that the day is coming when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, not the Sun and stars in the sky, is Lord. (Philippians 2:10-11)
